Application

Viking Specjal deformable C2TE S1 is used for tiling: ceramic, stoneware, terracotta, clinker tiles, large-format tiles, facade tiles, terrazzo, for commercial and service rooms and facilities with increased traffic, as well as for waterproofing and anti-moisture insulation water and old ceramic tile coverings. Due to its properties, the adhesive mortar compensates for thermal and mechanical stress.

Substrate preparation

Deformability and increased parameters of the adhesive mortar are ideally suited for use on deformable substrates, e.g. in underfloor heating systems, for application to rigidly attached plasterboard, terraces, balconies, old ceramic tiles, single-layer gypsum and anhydrite substrates after prior priming (recommended Uni-Astex primer (mineral substrates) or untypical Uni-Astex Bonding substrates (e.g. OSB, old ceramic tile linings, etc.) and substrates covered with Hydro-Astex liquid foil. The adhesive is also ideal for use on various matured mineral substrates: cellular concrete, cement-lime plasters, cement plasters, screeds, bricks, blocks, hollow bricks, screeds.

Important

For gluing natural stone tiles (marbles) it is recommended to use Viking Specjal "White" adhesive mortar in the C2TE class or Viking Specjal deformable white in the C2TE S1 class.

Properties

Viking Specjal deformable C2TE S1 is a ready, dry mix of the highest quality based - based on gray ash-free cement class 42.5, or in the case of the product Viking Specjal deformable "White" in the class C2TE S1cement white class 52.5 and specially selected aggregate and modifying additives. The mortar ensures durability of lining assembly in the most extreme conditions. It is resistant to linear expansion due to significant differences in daily temperatures. This mortar is prepared for the natural movement of the cladding, transferring the stress generated between them, as well as compensating for the stress created between the material being laid and the base. It is characterized by good plasticity and adhesion to various types of building materials, which makes it a very versatile product. Additionally reinforced with 6 mm long polypropylene fiber. Special chemical modification eliminates the effect of sliding of a freshly adhered tile. Viking Specjal deformable C2TE S1 is a deformable, frost and waterproof product, as well as a shrink-free product with increased adhesion to the substrate for quick and safe application, almost all ceramic materials.

Substrate preparation

The substrate should be dry, stable, even and sound, i.e. strong enough, cleaned of layers that may weaken mortar adhesion (dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax, oil and emulsion paint residues). Uneven surfaces that prevent the application of the correct thickness of the Viking Specjal Deformable C2TE S1 adhesive mortar (2 to 7 mm) should be corrected using materials recommended for this type of work. Excessive absorbency of the substrate should be reduced by using Uni-Astex or Uni-Astex Szczepny Priming Emulsion. If it is necessary to glue tiles on solid substrates with a load capacity difficult to determine (e.g. dusty, difficult to clean), it is recommended to carry out an adhesion test consisting in sticking the tile and checking the connection after 48 hours. All structural expansion joints should be transferred to the executed cladding layer. Above 20 m², use expansion joints.

Mortar preparation

Pour the contents of the package into a measured amount of water and mix using a drill with a mixer until a homogeneous mass without lumps is obtained. Wait about 5 minutes and mix again. If necessary - add a small amount of water and mix again. Spread the mortar on the surface with a steel notched trowel. DO NOT SOAK TILES IN WATER.

Application method

The Viking Specjal Deformable adhesive mortar C2TE S1 is used in the thin-layer method of tiling. It should be applied to the prepared surface with a smooth steel trowel, and then spread with a notched trowel and shaped (possibly in one direction). Do not apply the mortar on a too large surface once, because after spreading it retains its adhesive properties for about 10 to 20 minutes (depending on the parameters of the substrate and the environment). In order to increase the adhesion, it is also recommended to cover the entire tile with adhesive mortar from the reverse of the tile. To check whether it is still possible to stick the tiles, it is recommended to carry out the test consisting in putting your hand on the previously applied mortar. If the glue remains on the fingers, then the tiles can be glued. When the fingers are clean, remove the old layer of adhesive and apply a new one. After spreading the mortar, put the tile and press it thoroughly to the ground. The amount of mortar applied to the substrate should be selected so that after pressing the tile, the contact surface with the adhesive is even over the entire surface of the tile. The time to correct the position of the tile is up to 20 minutes from the moment it is pressed (depending on the parameters of the substrate and environment). During the works, excess adhesive mortar that appears when pressing the tiles should be removed from the joints on an ongoing basis. Flooring or grouting can be started after hardening, after a period of 24-48 hours after fixing the tiles. Open time must be observed. Protect the surface being made from direct sunlight and rain. The mortar achieves its functional strength within 3 - 4 days. In addition to the recommendations provided, work should be carried out in accordance with building practice and health and safety rules. The manufacturer guarantees the quality of the product, while it does not affect the conditions and the way it is used. If in doubt, carry out adhesion tests.

Expenditure

On average, 1.5 - 7kg of mortar is used for 1m² depending on the base and type of trowel used. In practice, the wear depends on the degree of evenness of the substrate and the type of tiles used.

Tools

Drill with a mixer, smooth and serrated steel float. Tools should be cleaned with clean water directly after use.

Packaging

Paper bags: 25 kg. Pallet: 54 bags, 25 kg each = 1350 kg.

Storage and transport

The mortar should be transported and stored in tightly sealed bags, in dry conditions (preferably on pallets). Protect from moisture. The storage period of the mortar in conditions in accordance with the specified requirements is up to 12 months from the production date shown on the packaging.

Temperature of performed work

Air temperature from +5 to + 25 ° C. Substrate temperature from +5 to + 25 ° C.

Precautions

Irritating product. Appropriate eye, respiratory and skin protection should be used. Keep away from children. Do not breathe dust. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show the container or label.
