Application

VIKING LUX MULTI C1TE adhesive mortar is used for fixing tiles, terracotta, natural stone and non-absorbent cement and concrete tiles, on non-deformable and stable substrates such as: cement-lime plaster, gypsum, concrete, aerated concrete, cement screed, on a surface made of bricks , blocks, hollow bricks and other such ceramic materials, lime-sand, etc. It can be used inside and outside buildings, for all types of tiles.

Properties

VIKING LUX MULTI C1TE is a ready-to-use dry mix based on high-quality cement and specially selected aggregates and modifying agents. It is characterized by good plasticity, workability and adhesion to various types of building materials, which makes it a very versatile product. Special chemical modification eliminates the effect of sliding of a freshly adhered tile. VIKING LUX MULTI C1TE is a frost and waterproof product.

Substrate preparation

The substrate should be dry, stable, even and sound, i.e. strong enough, cleaned of layers that may weaken mortar adhesion (dust, dirt, lime, oil, fat, wax, oil and emulsion paint residues). Uneven surfaces that prevent the application of the correct thickness of VIKING LUX MULTI C1TE adhesive mortar should be corrected using materials recommended for this type of work. Reduce excessive substrate absorption by using UNI-ASTEX priming emulsion. If it is necessary to glue tiles on solid substrates with a load capacity difficult to determine (e.g. dusty, difficult to clean), it is recommended to perform an adhesion test consisting of sticking the tile and checking the connection after 48-72 hours. All constructional and additional dilatations should be transferred to the executed cladding layer. Lack of dilatation in these places or their improper performance may result in tiles cracking and bonding. Lay ceramic cladding after at least 28 days from the time of flooring or plastering, in the case of concrete after 3 months from the completion of the shell works.

Mortar preparation

Preparation consists of pouring dry mortar into a container with the right amount of water (5.5 - 6.5 l per 25 kg). Then mix the mass manually or mechanically using a low speed drill with a mixer until a homogeneous mass without lumps is obtained. Leave for about 5-10 minutes and mix again. If necessary, add a small amount of water and mix again to get the right consistency. The mass prepared in this way should be used within 1 to 2.5 hours depending on the ambient conditions. It is unacceptable to modify the mortar by adding other components of construction chemicals, e.g. sand, cement, and other additives, as this may cause loss of mortar properties. When gluing tiles on vertical surfaces, to exclude the effect of runoff, it is recommended to use the amount of water from the lower limit, i.e. about 5.5l / 25kg of mortar. Depending on the size of the tiles, when bonding on horizontal surfaces, the amount of mixing water can be increased to a maximum limit of 6.5 l / 25kg of mortar. IMPORTANT: For gluing natural stone tiles, use white adhesive.

Application method

VIKING LUX MULTI C1TE adhesive mortar is used in the thin-layer method of tiling. It should be applied to the prepared surface with a smooth steel trowel, and then spread with a notched trowel and shaped (possibly in one direction). Do not apply the mortar to a large surface once, because after spreading it retains its adhesive properties for about 10 to 30 minutes (depending on the parameters of the substrate and the environment). In order to increase the adhesion, it is recommended to cover the entire tile with adhesive mortar from the reverse of the tile. To check whether it is still possible to stick the tiles, it is recommended to carry out the test consisting in putting your hand on the previously applied mortar. If the glue remains on the fingers, then you can continue gluing. When the fingers are clean, remove the old layer of adhesive and apply a new one. After spreading the mortar, apply the tile and press it firmly to the ground. Do not lay tiles. The amount of mortar applied to the substrate should be selected so that after pressing the tile, the contact surface with the adhesive is even over the entire surface. During the work, remove excess glue from the joints on a regular basis when pressing tiles. Keep the width of the joints depending on the tile size and operating conditions. Fresh dirt after adhesive mortar should be washed with water, and hardened ones mechanically removed. Flooring or grouting can be started after hardening, after a period of 24-48 hours after fixing the tiles. Open time must be observed. Protect the surface being made from direct sunlight and rain. The mortar reaches its full strength after 7 days. Do not soak the tiles with water.

Tools

Drill with a mixer, stucco trowel, serrated steel trowel, level, mortar container, measuring vessel for water. Tools should be cleaned with clean water directly after use.

Storage and transport

The products must be absolutely stored in undamaged packaging and dry rooms on pallets. Protect against soaking, moisture during storage and transport. The storage period of the product in conditions complying with the recommendations given is up to 12 months from the date of production placed on the packaging in digital print. The date of production, which is placed on the packaging, is also the date of manufacture of the product. Any changes visible in the product or packaging structure without special tests, in particular discoloration or smudging of the packaging graphics, infringements of the packaging continuity, biological changes in the product structure, recognizable in particular as a consequence of moisture, may indicate poor storage or transport conditions and do not guarantee compliance declared product performance according to specifications.

Expenditure

On average, 4-5 kg of mortar is used for 1m² depending on the base and type of trowel used. In practice, the wear depends on the degree of evenness of the substrate and the type of tiles used.
